Speaking of projectiles, doesn't the biathlon seem dated? The Olympics have added snowboarding events but it just seems that the combination of target shooting and cross country skiing are a dated event.

"Projectile Vomiting" events dont start until Tuesday Are point awarded for distance or splatter?Joe This is a hybrid event, with objective points (for distance and accuracy) and subjective points (target, splatter and chunkiness). 10 points for each element, 50 points maximum. HW Bush was the first to score a perfect 10 in the accuracy AND target elements of this event when he hurled on the PM of Japan in 1992.

Speaking of projectiles, doesn't the biathlon seem dated? Probably not to people who are "bi". -- BB (hey, I'm just guessin' here ... )

My wifes a big fan of the Olympics so it's been beer, pizza and speed skaters all afternoon except for a short break of the Eukanuba dog show. Why that main judge obsesses with each dogs ass is beyond me. She really gets into it. Checking how things are shaved down there maybe

I find the idea that someone can go all out for 10 to 15 minutes then fire off accurately, on demand, something to strive for and admire. Plus the fact there is that penalty lap if you miss the target, oh the humiliation.

No it's not out dated. Ski cross country then stop and shot a gun at a target 124 feet away accurately. That's tough to do.

If guns are athleticised, then only athletes will have guns.

Tonight is the snowboard cross, I'm looking forward to that event although it's only a minor band-aid for a missed H2 trip. In the great words of Herman Munster; "Darn darn darn darn darn!"

A sad day in Olympic history, but...........
There are winners and there are lugers.
