I'm vacillating here. This could have the potential to be a very popular forum, so it would be nice to have it on the front page.
On the other hand, the front page is already pretty damn long. I don't want it to get too confusing or unwieldy.
Or, I could make some of the current forums into sub-forums to make the front page shorter, giving us room for this one.
What do youse guys think?

I'll enjoy it either way but quick access would be helpful. I'm looking forward to this forum and glad you started it.
Thanks, Gary

I can take it either way. Opinion, to reduce clutter, why not move the "Theater" to be a sub of the "Movies", since that Forum only gets a few topics per year.

Or alternatively 'Generally Speaking' and 'Whatever' kind of cover the same ground and could be merged into one forum. Simon

I'll enjoy the forum either way but I'd like to see it have it's own space. I stand corrected "mind in the gutter" Travolta. :--)

I got tired of digging an extra layer deep, so I made it a full forum. Yes, the front page is getting pretty long, but what are you gonna do? The phrase "long in the tooth" comes to mind, but it happens to the best of us.......

Good choice. We have enough skilled photographers on here to merit a standalone section.

Join a free image hosting site. imageshack.us/Click on "browse", select photo from desired file folder, click "open", then click "upload". You can also select different resolutions, that has to be done first.

I couldn't resist. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing about the news on the contest we are going to have. Undoubtedly, I'll have to get a new camera because the Fuji WP is to limited.

Okay, I promote this forum to the front page, and what happens? All the photo postings dry up! Perhaps everyone is holding back till the competition is launched... Rather than a competition, which with so few of us would be difficult to judge, how about each week, in addition to us posting our random pictures of days out, things of interest etc, a theme is set and a new thread started to post them in. Themes could be announced a week or two in advance to allow time to go out and take the appropriate shots or find ones we've already taken. A limit of four or five pics per person might be an idea to ensure we focus on posting our best shots for the theme rather than anything and everything that may fit. Suggested themes to get us off the ground : Transport Action Geometry Sunrise/Sunset (usually hard to tell the difference) Things around the house Headgear and footwear What thinks ye? Simon

Alternatively, if organisation really isn't our strong point on this here board... anyone could just start a new thread, state in the subject what the theme is, post their own pic(s) and others could follow suit.

TNMC is known worldwide for its rich and valuable prizes. Why give away the photo if their is a threat promise of reward for withholding. I can always use another year of paid up membership. Besides, great art takes time to create... Photoshop is not that easy to use

... Photoshop is not that easy to use Should Photoshopped images be judged against regular photos? Maybe have two categories per theme or have a separate theme of just Photoshopped images?

Half my incoming emails tell me that I will enhance my life by having a fake Rollex. I think that my life should be equally improved by Photoshopping my crap photos.

... Photoshop is not that easy to use Should Photoshopped images be judged against regular photos? Maybe have two categories per theme or have a separate theme of just Photoshopped images? I don't think there is any harm in enhancing a picture by Photoshopping it. After all, even just cropping it, or adjusting the contrast a little, is ch-ch-changing it from the original. And most of the adjustments that are made go unnoticed anyway. However, I sometimes like to turn my pictures into black and white or sepia and would consider that just a different presentation of the image. Perhaps we could have a 'Photoshopped' week where we can enter pictures that have had a lot of Photoshopping done to them, such as where elements from other pictures have been introduced or collages made? And maybe a sepia and black and white week? Simon

I agree with Simon that Photoshop is just another tool in the photographer's arsenal, just like his polarizing filter, his flash unit, or his tripod. It makes pictures a little different, and generally a little better, but it is still the photographer's vision and his skill that makes the picture great.
(Actually, upon re-reading, I'm not sure that is what Simon meant, so I'm not sure if I'm agreeing with him or not. But that's how I see it.)

How about a Fall Colors theme? (Simon can do a Fall Colours theme if he prefers). Deb and Trace, and OzMale, will be at a disadvantage of course, but maybe they can do the counterpoint with Spring Colours?
