I just received the following email from Katherine aka the Good Sister...
I am aware that many here were not enamored with Lou, but I enjoyed his company and occasional emails.

Oh this is so sad! I feel for Katherine and her daughter. I am thankful that I was able to meet him once on a Hedo trip a few years back. My strength goes to her.

I know he was a frequent lurker he, and we frequently exchange emails on TNMC topics. Just last week I had several emails from him regarding the French Riots thread. I do not know if Katherine ever wandered in here though.

What awful news. I know the Good Sister is a strong lady and she is going to need it over the next several months.
My heart and thoughts go out to you and your daughter if indeed you get a chance to read this. I never had the opportunity to meet either of you, but Lou will indeed be missed for his personality, unfaltering views and general all around good guy-ness.
Hugs,
Deborah

We just got home and picked up the same message from Katherine. Sam and I are shocked and deeply saddened by this terrible news. We've had the pleasure of spending two Hedo trips in their company and finer people you could not wish to meet. While many here disagreed with Lou's viewpoint I'm sure there are few who could have been unaware of his immense intelligence. The Lou that we got to know was also a man that few when they met him could fail to warm to, a man that took the trouble to get to know and befriend those around him, and a man who was the life and soul of the party and just wanted those around him to have as much fun as he was having.
We'll miss him.
Simon, and on this occasion Sam too.

I am sitting here because I can't sleep and decided to check this board out because I knew Lou would and doing so would bring a part of him back. Thank you so very much for all of your kind thoughts. He will be finally home tomorrow and I will have to do the hardest thing that I have done in my life and that is to say one final goodbye to my lover, my best friend, my rock and soul-mate on the day that we were married. The only day that I can say good-bye to him is on Monday being our 18th Wedding Anniversary because our daughter's 16th birthday is the next day and I do not want her to have to deal with knowing that she said good-bye to her daddy that she so dearly loved and he her on her birthday or the day after.
I was joined on November 21, 1987 with the greatest man that I ever met and I will say good-bye to him for the last time on that day. I just want it all over before 5 p.m. because that is when we were married.
Once again, even though there were differences of opinion thank you for your kind words. Life is so very short.
Katherine

This is so very tragic. Kathrine, although we have never met, I feel as if through these boards I always have known you, and Lou as we are a part of the "Hedo Family". These message Boards have a unique way of creating a sense of "family", and bonds within the same. Your loss is felt by all, and we send our sincere condolences to your, and your family.
Sincerely, Renee and John

Lou was a very good man and created good memories for us that only knew through the boards and sharing of thoughts. Godspeed Katherine

We are so very sad to hear this tragic news, and we wish you, Katherine, and your daughter all the best during this impossibly difficult time. We never met, but certainly feel like we know both of you. Life is so short, but it sure seems to me that Lou made the most of it. Ted and Toni

Katherine, Please accept our heartfelt condolences to you and your daughter. I regret that I will not be able to bump into Lou one day in Jamaica and have a few drinks and chew the fat. He was smart and personable. Please stop by more often. Hang in there, sis.

Katherine - We have all suffered a loss with Lou's passing. While we may throw rhetoric bullshit around - it's all good nature. Take time for healing and forever hold onto the good memories.
